My Top Sunburn Soothers and Moisturizers

It’s SUNBURN season! For those of you out there who tan but hardly ever turn red, don’t click away because you can still benefit from these products.  And, just so you know, I am jealous! As you can see from the photo above I burn… I burn bad! With 29 years of getting bad sunburns and grabbing just about anything within reach to soothe my inflamed skin, I have used tons of different products and learned that not all work; actually, some can be pretty painful. So, I have compiled a list of some of my favorite items which work really well for my sensitive skin but don’t cost a fortune. These products are also great for dry skin in the winter and help to prevent aging, win—win—win!

1. Now Dermal Soothing Cream (B-12 Cream)  $10.78
Amazing Cream that soothes with natural ingredients like Vitamin B-12, Shea Butter and Licorice. This cream helps reduce skin redness and discomfort. Perfect for when your skin is on fire! The ingredients in this work like magic together to do things like renew moisture and help your skin heal, making it great for preventing peeling, scarring and wrinkles. Yes, this stuff is bright pink from the natural B12; but, not to worry, it won’t make you or your clothes pink.

2. Burt’s Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter $12.99
This natural butter has Shea, Jojoba and Cocoa Butters that will for sure help your sunburn! I LOVE this stuff. I know this is belly butter for preventing stretch marks during pregnancy, but that just means it’s some pretty great stuff.

3. Mary Kay Fragrance-Free Satin Hands $36.00
What can I say other than this stuff is amazing! I have been using Mary Kay hand cream since I was a baby. It is obviously meant for your hands but is so moisturizing and full of Shea Butter that is it perfect for replenishing moisture to the skin. I have been using it for many years to soothe and heal my sunburns. It now comes fragrance free, perfect for sensitive skin. I recommend putting the Protecting Softener on your really bad spots before jumping in the shower. It helps lessen the pain of the water hitting your sunburn and supports the barrier of your skin by sealing the natural moisture in.

4. Mary Kay TimeWise® 3-In-1 Cleansing Bar (with soap dish) $20.00
I know it is a face cleanser, but it is perfect for my sensitive skin. So, I use this product all over my body and it still lasts me for a good while.  Every time I hop into the shower I use it; it’s also perfect for sunburned skin because it is not only gentle and fragrance free but has green tea and aloe leaf, both of which are perfect for soothing, healing and anti-aging. I mean, why just wash your face and neck with this amazing stuff when you want your whole body to stay wrinkle-free?!

5. Glossier Balm Dotcom $12.00
“Hydrating, long-lasting, multipurpose lip and skin salve that’s packed with antioxidants.”  They say it all right on their website; this stuff is perfect for anything anywhere! I stick it in my purse and I’m good to go. It doesn’t wear off quickly like other products tend to do.  It has things like Lanolin, Castor Oil, Rosemary and Beeswax which are all perfect for (you guessed it) SUNBURN.

6. Natures Oil Aloe Vera Liquid 16oz $3.63
Aloe IS the all-time sunburn soother. I remember being slathered with Aloe Gel when I was little and then feeling very sticky while also feeling so much relief. I buy this aloe liquid to put in the lotions I already have. It adds a nice bit of wound healing and anti-inflammatory goodies, making any lotion your sunburn bestie! And you won’t feel sticky!
